viewing the summer in high resolution

Well now that I'm home I've started to make some resolutions for how I'll spend my time.  I've already gotten a new job (YAY FOR ME) and have started babysitting.  Other than that, here are my summer plans as told by these fabulous pictures from Pinterest....
I will not be seeing any palm trees, but I live by the beach and will totally be going to the beach this summer more frequently because I think I may have...wait for it....DAYS OFF!

Ok, so my goal is to read Gone with the Wind, among other things.  I've always hoped to read this book but it is 733 pages, quite large and with tiny print.  We'll see if that happens. And I also found a new coffee shop in Bellmore called The Bean (que mono!!!) and I'll be going there!

maybe I'll do this....nope

I'm looking forward to relaxing, reading, knitting, and enjoying being home.  So far I've kept with this resolution

I'm pretty tan from the one beach day in Lisbon, but I'm definitely gonna go to the beach more with my cousin! I'm soo excited

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna go to a used bag sale in the Hamptons this year with my cousin and her friend.  I'm really looking forward to this and you can get designer bags for super SUPER cheap!

And while I'm happy to be home during the summer time, I'm still missing SMC since I haven't been there since december.  I've already packed all of my things for school next year and packed most of my clothes.... I know, CRAZY!!

Well, as Winnie the Pooh said, "How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard."  It is gonna be so hard to graduate, but I'm legitimately excited for my life after college!

I Lost my heart in Lisbon

This past weekend I went to Lisbon on my last little trip before leaving Europe.  I went from Friday morning until Monday morning with my friend Jeanine.  We had a fantastic time and I truly loved that city with all of my heart.  I wish I could live there and am definitely gonna look into some things to do there in the future! Here are some pictures of my trip:

Carbs, Carbs, Carbs...and more Carbs

Or that is pasta, pizza, bread, gelato, and cheese and lots of it.  This past Wednesday (April 24) I flew away to Rome with 2 classmates and a professor.  It was a class trip (Origins of Judaism) and we were going to tour the ruins of Rome! It was an incredible trip and I formed such good friendships from it that I wish it never ended!!!! Here are some pictures:

I'm CRAZY about MUSEUMS

Ok this is very true.  I am crazy about museums.  This is not even slightly a lie or an exaggeration.  I LOVE museums, especially free ones.  Hey, it's hard to study abroad and control oneself when it comes to spending.  So, how do I find out about free museums you ask? Luckily there is a fantastic little tourist book that's published each month with special exhibits in certain museums as well as a general list of museums with all their information- including pricing and if/when they are free!!

Let me amaze you for a minute...(in Madrid) I have been to:

Museo del Prado
Museo Nacional...Reina Sofia
Museo Thyssen
Museo Sorolla
Fundacion MAPFRE
Espacion Fundacion Telefonica
Galeria Elvira Gonzalez
CaixaForum
Ermita de San Antonio de la Florida
Museo ABC de Dibujo e Ilustracion
Museo Geominero
Museo de Historia
Museo de Arte Publico
Museo Naval
Museo Tiflologico
Templo de Debod

It sounds excessive but all of these I have gone to for free and all have been SO interesting.  I don't have a favorite since they are all extremely different, but I've really liked the MAPFRE, CaixaForum, Ermita de San Antonio, the Templo de Debod, and of course the Prado.

Saturday I met with my friend Erin to go to the Museo of San Isidro.  We didn't end up finding it so we went shopping instead and then got pistachio gelato...but I shall not give up.  I'm gonna try again to find this museum maybe tomorrow or this weekend.  We shall see.

Hasta luego,

Kayley

Day Trippin'

One perk of Syracuse University abroad is that they organize small group excursions to nearby Spanish cities! All you have to do is give a 10 Euro deposit (which you get back...wooot!) and show up on time to get the bus.  So far I've been to...

the Royal Palace

Cercedilla on a hike:

Segovia:

El Escorial:

and a trip to Salamanca that my friend Erin and I did ourselves!

Well that's all for now...next trip is to Aranjuez and the next day a walking tour of the Gay district of Madrid! lol (pictures to come!!!)
